Manage your preferences
Your current cookie preferences are shown below. Changes are saved instantly and apply to every MotorLink page on this device.
Essential cookies
Sign-in, session, CSRF protection. Required — cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies
Privacy-first, self-hosted Plausible analytics. Helps us improve the site. No personal data leaves MotorLink.
Marketing cookies
Not currently in use. This toggle is here so your preference is remembered if we ever add marketing trackers.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file a website places in your browser. It can hold things like a session ID (so you stay signed in), a theme preference, or an analytics identifier. Local storage and session storage are slightly different technologies with the same effect — we treat all three the same way.
Essential cookies
These cookies keep MotorLink working. They can’t be turned off because the product would be broken without them.
- ml_session — your signed-in session. Expires on sign-out or after 14 days of inactivity.
- ml_csrf — protects forms from cross-site request forgery. Session only.
- ml_prefs — your UI preferences (dark mode, currency). One year.
- ml_consent — records which cookie categories you’ve allowed. One year.
Analytics cookies
We use analytics to understand what on the site works. These are opt-in — they’re off unless you enable them.
- Plausible (self-hosted) — a privacy-first alternative to Google Analytics. No personal data, no cross-site tracking.
If you don’t enable analytics, we still see total page views from server logs, but we can’t tell visits apart. That’s the trade-off.
Marketing cookies
MotorLink currently uses no marketing cookies. We do not run ad retargeting pixels, we do not share your identifier with ad networks, and we do not use Meta Pixel, Google Ads or similar trackers.
If this changes, we will add a marketing toggle to the panel above and default it to off. You’ll see a banner asking you to opt in.
Third-party cookies
We embed a few third-party components that set their own cookies. These are opt-in under “Analytics” in the panel above:
- Cloudinary — image delivery. Sets a session cookie on its own domain for cache routing only.
- YouTube — when an article embeds a video we load YouTube in “no-cookie” mode.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser. Every modern browser lets you block, delete or view cookies from its settings. Here are the documentation links:
Blocking all cookies will break sign-in. Blocking only analytics and marketing cookies is supported — you can do that from our panel above.
When this policy changes
If we add or remove a cookie we’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. Big changes come with an in-product banner.
